George T. Yoss practices in the areas of State and Federal white-collar criminal law, as well as complex commercial civil matters. He focuses his practice in the defense of individuals and corporations accused of all types of criminal violations, as well as serious administrative and compliance violations. He has much experience in the representation of sophisticated institutional clients and Fortune 500 clients. He is often retained by those clients to structure and supervise internal investigations, respond to Government investigations, and to manage and investigate corporate compliance issues. Mr. Yoss has testified as an expert in international arbitrations and has tried and represented persons in numerous matters where clients have been charged with First Degree Murder, Trafficking in Controlled Substances, R.I.C.O., Money Laundering, Conspiracy, Medicare Fraud, Mail Fraud, Wire Fraud, Securities Fraud and other high profile matters. His strategic thinking, as well as his experience handling large size matters and organizations make Mr. Yoss an unusually helpful ally and a valuable resource to top management and other key decision makers. Mr. Yoss also has unusual experience in obtaining State of Florida Pardons and obtaining favorable results before the Florida Parole Commission, as well as representing individuals seeking admission and readmission to The Florida Bar. Mr. Yoss is the chair of the Criminal Practice Group.

Mr. Yoss began his career as an intern in the Dade County State Attorney’s Office in Miami, Florida, and spent two years working in that office before taking and passing the Florida Bar upon graduation from law school. He was sworn in as an Assistant State Attorney in October of 1974, and in 1978, he became the Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney. In 1980, Mr. Yoss was appointed by the then Dade County State Attorney, Janet Reno, who later became President Clinton’s US Attorney General, to be her Chief Assistant State Attorney until July of 1987. At that time, he left public service to become a partner and subsequently Managing Partner in a boutique Coconut Grove, Florida law firm. Under Mr. Yoss’ leadership, that firm eventually grew to over 250 lawyers and ranked by American Lawyer Magazine as one of the top 200 law firms in the country.

Mr. Yoss received his bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Bernard M. Baruch School of Business Administration at The City University of New York in 1971, and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1974. He is admitted to practice in the States of New York and Florida and is further admitted to practice in the Southern District of Florida. Mr. Yoss is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Dade County Bar Association. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Miami and has taught at the National College of District Attorneys. Mr. Yoss has, on numerous occasions, been a member and Chairman of Florida Bar Grievance Committees and has acted as Bar Counsel for The Florida Bar.
